I love the muffaletta sandwich, but what are some good variations to use for the toppings/fillings?
Q. Like, instead of stuffing my breadbowl with the usual mozz, ham, tapenade, I was thinking of experimenting with other meats and cheeses and spreads. Perhaps turkey, swiss and pesto? What other combos are good? I guess I should've stated that I am looking to make muffaletta STYLE sandwiches, whereby the breadbowl is stuffed with layers. It doesn't have to have traditional muffaletta ingredients. I'm just looking for different kinds of sandwiches that can be made and sliced into wedges. I promise not to call them muffalettas ya'll. :) All these answers were argumentative. NONE answered the question. It's driving me crazy so I'm gonna put it to vote rather than knowingly give one of these guys 10 points. Thanks voters!

Spread about 1/4 cup of the olive salad and its oil on the bottom and top pieces of bread, spreading to saturate the bread with oil. Alternately layer the bottom bread with the meat, cheese, and remaining olive salad to taste. Cut into quarters and wrap… [cont.]

Freezing sandwiches?
Q. This may sound strange. But I rarely have time in the evenings or in the morning to make sandwiches for my son's lunches and often he doesn't have any. I was wondering if I could make 5 sandwiches over the weekend and freeze them, taking them out in the morning and putting them straight in his lunch box. If I can, what spreads or fillings do you recommend?

A. I have tried to freeze many types of sandwiches. I can assure you only certain types freeze ok. peanut butter yuck, does not freeze well. also any sandwiches that have lettuce or tomato. The sandwiches that freeze the best are spread types like salmon, tuna and the other canned flaked meats like chicken, turkey and ham. if you are not familiar with these types of spreads you just add a bit of mayonaise to the can meat and mix. I usually add a bit of green onion to the salmon, only salmon. I also like to add fresh ground pepper to the chicken and turkey. only turkey and chicken. I also add a tiny bit of mustard to the ham mix. It helps to butter the bread so the spread doesn't soak into the bread. I like to use zip lock baggies and… [cont.]
