Is fruit put into a powerful blender to make a smoothie good for diabetics?
Q. I've heard fruit juice is not good because it gives too strong a sugar hit too quickly but that fruit is ok because of the fibre. If a whole fruit is put into a blender it is mulched up but the fibre is still there. Please tell me if such a practice is considered as good as eating raw fruit whole from a diabetes point of view. I have borderline diabetes so don't know much about it as yet.

A. no!!!...its a fast GI...not good at all...you are best to have a piece of fruit with your meal. a meal where you have some low GI foods on ya plate...multigrain bread is good...whole meal is bad...strange i know but it is...corns very good low GI so is popcorn...strawberries are LOW GI too... how i dont know..but its true...only certain potatoes are any good...not sure the name...those red ones are ok..but only moderately...basmatti rice is low GI too...clever rice also..all the rest fast GI ...theres some help for you..as Hubbys been one for years..if he just ate what i gave him..hed be ok today...but he ate too much lollies etc chips & pies & junk...dont you do it...my family member had legs cut off & died...sorry to worry you..but… [cont.]
